Many different services from Halff were involved in the park improvements at Isla Blanca, located on South Padre Island. Halff used geospatial, land development, landscape architecture, MEP engineering, planning, right of way, surveying and structural engineering for the project.
Principal structural engineering for multiple structures were located within a Coastal Zone V, which is considered a coastal high hazard area. Extreme winds and high velocity wave action threaten these structures, including a multi-purpose building, an administration building, two pavilions, a boardwalk and a long span entrance sign. The building structures are concrete frames which are required to be elevated above the base flood elevation. The roof structure for the administration building and pavilions are concrete flat plates.
